Stephen Schostok
Gurnee attorney Stephen J. Schostok, a resident of Ivanhoe and Boca Raton, Fla., who had practiced in Chicago for more than 40 years, died Nov. 18 at age 66 of cancer.
A 1962 graduate of the DePaul University College of Law, Mr. Schostok had a downtown solo practice before becoming a partner in Laser, Schostok, Kolman & Frank, and he represented corporate clients and victims of negligence for three decades.
He also was corporate counsel for Professional Food Management and legal counsel for Thorngate Country Club in Deerfield for 20 years. He was instrumental in development of the Ivanhoe Club in Mundelein.
The son of Slovak immigrants, Mr. Schostok was a board member of the Slovak-American International Cultural Foundation, where he was honored as a Tabula Gratulatoria Magna supporter of Slovak literature. He was a member of the Gateway Charitable Foundation and the Loyola University President's Society.
Survivors include a son, Michael P. Schostok of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Waukegan, president-elect of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and a daughter-in-law, 19th Circuit Judge Mary Seminara Schostok.
