Bloomington attorney David V. Dorris, a past chair of both the ISBA Tort Law Section Council and Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council, has been honored by the University of Illinois College of Law as one of eight distinguished graduates for 2002-03. A 1973 graduate of the law school, Dorris is a past president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He also chaired the Illinois Bar Journal Editorial Board and served on the College of Law Alumni Board of Visitors. * * * Retired Cook County judge Benjamin S. Mackoff has received a Service Award from the Illinois Mediation Council. He was recognized for innovation in the family mediation field, participation in professional mediation associations and general support of mediation initiatives. Presiding judge of the Domestic Relations Division from 1986 to 1995, Mackoff is director of family mediation services for Schiller, DuCanto & Fleck, Chicago. He was instrumental in development of the circuit court's Marriage and Family Counseling Service. * * * Victor H. Reyes of Greenberg Traurig, Chicago, recently received a Rerum Novarium Award for government service from Cardinal Francis George of the Catholic Archdiocese as celebration of a papal encyclical on labor and the dignity of the worker. Robert Glaves, Law Bulletin receive CVLS recognition The Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation presented the fourth Atticus Finch Award to Robert A. Glaves, executive director of the Chicago Bar Foundation, during its recent annual meeting. Glaves was cited for his "kindness and caring for clients and practitioners" and bringing together "donors and providers to simplify and coordinate legal service efforts." The CVLS Court of Honor Award was accepted for the Law Bulletin Publishing Co. by Bernard M. Judge, editor of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, for outstanding coverage of pro bono events and initiatives. Advisory Board Awards were given to Stephen R. Patton, who chaired it from 1997 to 2000, and to members Enrico J. Mirabelli, Peter L. Rossiter, Howard M. Rubin and Rowe W. Snider. Board of Directors Awards went to John G. Kelly and Mark P. Loftus. CVLS presented Distinguished Service Awards to representatives of 11 of the legal clinics that receive referrals for pro bono representation. Daugerdas, managing shareholder in the Chicago office of Jenkens & Gilchrist, has been elected president of the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois. He has served on the board of directors since 1996. The foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to provide hope and strength. James Grumley, a litigation partner in the Joliet office of Rooks Pitts, is campaign chair for the United Way of Will County. He chaired its Professional Division for several years. Grumley serves on the boards of the Joliet/Will County Center for Economic Development, the Joliet City Center Partnership and the Joliet Area Historical Museum, and is a trustee of the Notre Dame Club of Joliet Scholarship Foundation. Service awards given Elgin attorney Clarence Wittenstrom, a partner in Gromer & Wittenstrom, has received the Kane County Bar Association Community Service Award. A past president of the Kiwanis Club, he has served his church in many capacities during the past 60 years. He was instrumental in planning of the Gail Borden Library, city hall, Hemmens Auditorium and the Appellate Court building, and has been a library board trustee since 1995.
