LEGISLATIVE CHECKLIST

The Illinois State Bar Association is pleased to provide our members with the Legislation Checklist for the 1997 Session of the 90th General Assembly. The Checklist summarizes important new legislation.

Each piece of legislation contains a subtopic heading for ready reference. The Public Act (P.A.) number and effective date appear immediately after the summary. Cites for any new acts are also included.

The summaries are quick guides to recent legislative changes. For more details, refer to the enacted legislation itself. Copies of individual bills are available from the Department of Legislative Affairs (800) 252-8908.

We appreciate the assistance of the following individuals in compiling various sections: Joan Agrella Parker, Taxpayers' Federation of Illinois (taxation); Roger Huebner, ISBA (local government); Marci Dutton and Phil Milsk, ISBA (education); Betsy Clarke, ISBA (juvenile justice); and Stephen Baker, ISBA (criminal law).

We hope that you will find this Checklist helpful and welcome your suggestions for improving it.

    Director of Legislative Affairs
