The Decatur Bar Association will receive an honorable mention John C. McAndrews Pro Bono Award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) for its commitment during the past year to the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation.
The award will be presented to attorney Jeffrey D. Richardson, of Decatur, a past president of the Decatur Bar Association, at the ISBA's Annual Meeting to be held June 17-19, at The Abbey in Lake Geneva, Wis.
The award, which is presented each year to a member of the legal profession who has shown extraordinary commitment to providing free legal services to the poor, is named for the late John C. McAndrews, a lawyer from Rock Island who, by personal example and his work in the bar association, was instrumental in expanding pro bono legal services for the indigent in Illinois.
The 30,000-member ISBA, with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public.
