Andrea M. (Andy) Schleifer has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA). The 25-member board directs the operations and activities of the statewide organization.
Schleifer is a lawyer in private practice, concentrating in general civil, family and real estate law.
An ISBA Assembly member for several years, she has been active on numerous committees, most recently serving as first chair of the Standing Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.
Schleifer was named "Outstanding Working Woman in Illinois" by Illinois Business and Professional Women for her efforts to improve the court system, aiding domestic violence victims, and helping develop legislation that is responsive to the needs of children. The ISBA also honored her for her pro bono efforts.
She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1970 and her J.D. from Loyola University in 1979.
The 30,000-member Illinois State Bar Association, with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public.
