I.                   Called to Order --  12:10 p.m. by Blake Harrop (Chair)

Blake Harrop welcomed everyone to today's meeting, and began the meeting by asking everyone in attendance to introduce him or herself.

 

II.                Approval of August 31, 2005 Minutes (tabled)

 

III.             Committee Reports

 

A.                 Legislation – Bhimani, Friedman

No report.

 

B.                 Newsletter – Simpson, Dorman, O'Toole, Kedziora and Conlon

Meg Simpson provided of a review of the articles for the fall newsletter and requested ideas for articles and case notes for the winter newsletter.  A discussion ensued regarding the dedicating the spring newsletter to the consumer protection issues.

 

C.                 CLE – Mutchnick, Lewis, Calhoun, DeFranco

 

Different programs were discussed, including whether to hold a program to discuss in-house counseling problems.  The program would include a panel discussion of hypothetical problems.  Target date for such a program is May/June, 2006, mid-afternoon with a cocktail hour to follow.

 

Gene Friedman commented regarding the new CLE requirements.  Gene noted that a program focused, in part, on ethics is likely to draw a sizeable crowd.

 

D.                Internet – McLaughlin

 

Brian McLaughlin reported on efforts to improve the web site, including getting minutes posted, relevant links, and e-mail addresses.

V.                 New Business

 

A.                 New Planning Idea for '05-‘06

A discussion ensued regarding whether to hold a January, 2006 CLE program in conjunction with the CBA.  Gene Friedman volunteered to lead a program on ethics.  The frequency of meetings was also discussed, and it was agreed that the Council should meet again on January 11, 2006.
