Law-related benefits planned

Several law-related organizations will hold charitable benefits this spring and summer. Among them are:

Friday, April 28, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. – Legal Aid 2006, a benefit for the Peoria office of Prairie State Legal Services, in the Par-a-Dice Hotel ballroom, East Peoria. Call Sandra Crow, (309) 674-9831.

Entertainment will be provided by The Shysters, a classic rock and soul band of legal professionals who were co-founders of the annual benefit in 1996.

The ticket price of $20 in advance or $25 at the door includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, door prizes and three hours of musical enjoyment.

Sunday, April 30, 3 to 5 p.m.) – Friends of Child Advocacy benefit reception and award presentations to Cheryl Calkins, Sharon Larsen, Baird & Warner and Exchange Club of Aurora in Isabella's Estiatorio, Geneva. Tickets are $50.

Senior Judge William J. Bauer of the U.S. Court of Appeals will receive the Cardinal Bernardin Award at 6:20 p.m. Other honorees are the McDonald's Corp. law department, the Charles J. O'Laughlin Memorial Award, and attorney Elizabeth Leach, the Pro Bono Award.
