Leslie Hairston chairs LAWPAC Chicago attorney Leslie A. Hairston has been elected chair of the Illinois Lawyers Political Action Committee. A city alderman, Hairston is a past chair of the Local Government Law Section Council and former newsletter editor of the Committee on Minority and Women Participation. ISBA Assembly member Rex L. Brown of Decatur is the new LAWPAC vice chair. He also serves on the Elder Law Section Council and the Committee on Law Related Education for the Public. John L. Nisivaco of Chicago, vice chair and newsletter editor of the Tort Law Section Council and a member of Young Lawyers Division Council, is LAWPAC secretary. Theodore E. Desch of Naperville is treasurer. Other members of the LAWPAC board are Margaret C. Benson, executive director of the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation; John H. Brechin of Addison, newsletter editor of the Local Government Law Section; Brent D. Holmes of Mattoon, chair of the Illinois Bar Journal Editorial Board, and ISBA past president Herbert H. Franks of Marengo, past chair. Brechin and Holmes were appointed to the board in December to replace retiring members J. William Roberts of Springfield, who was vice chair, and Paula H. Holderman of Chicago. ISBA staff liaisons are James R. Covington, director of legislative affairs; grassroots coordinator Mary McClain Grant, and legislative counsel Daniel L. Houlihan. |
