Women Everywhere service projects planned Volunteers from the legal community have been encouraged to sign up for participation in two May events that will be part of the seventh annual Women Everywhere: Partners in Service Project. Plans were announced during a March 8 kickoff reception at the Richard J. Daley Center, Chicago, for an Educational Program on Friday, May 5, and Community Service Day on Friday, May 19. Women Everywhere coordinators presented an Outstanding Partner Award at the reception to Judge Jacqueline P. Cox of U.S. Bankruptcy Court for her dedicated support of the project since its inception. The Educational Program on May 5 consists of tours for high school junior and senior girls of trial and appellate courts, where they will hear inspiring stories of successful professional women. Community Service Day on May 19 in--volves about 500 men and women from the legal community spending time at as many as 30 agencies that provide services to women and girls in need. Activities include painting and cleanup work, legal assistance, tutoring, domestic violence discussions and seminars on law-related topics. Sponsors include the ISBA Committee on Minority and Women Participation and the Committee on Women and the Law, the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, and the Black Women Lawyers Association of Greater Chicago. Others are the Chicago Bar Alliance for Women and Young Lawyers Section Women in the Law Committee, the Hispanic Lawyers Association's Latina Lawyers Committee, the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers, and the Hadassah Attorneys Council.
