Bar to honor class of 50-year members To have maintained membership in the Illinois State Bar Association in good standing for a half-century is a commendable achievement, worthy of the honorary title of Senior Counsellor. To have served the profession additionally, during the past 50 years, through leadership roles in the organized bar and the bench, deserves the gratitude of the public and of colleagues throughout the state. Later this year, the ISBA will honor 104 Senior Counsellors. Each has been a credit to the law in ways that range from being small-town solo practitioners to presiding as jurists in the highest courts. Some among them who have earned acclaim for public and professional service are: • W. Robert Blair, speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives for two of his five terms in the legislature. • Frank M. Covey, professor emeritus and former trustee of the Loyola University School of Law, and recipient of its Medal of Excellence. • M. Lois Dierstein, past president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois. • James J. Elson, Laureate of the ISBA Academy of Illinois Lawyers, chair of the ISBA Mutual Insurance Co. board, and former member of the ISBA Board of Governors. • Roger W. Eichmeier, retired judge and former member of the ISBA Board of Governors. • Arthur G. Greenberg, past president of the Peoria County Bar Association and faculty member at Eureka College. • James D. Heiple, circuit court judge and justice of the Illinois Appellate Court and Supreme Court for 30 years. • Richard H. Mills, senior federal court judge whose 41 years on the bench include state circuit and appellate seats. • Charles L. Palmer, Laureate of the ISBA Academy of Illinois Lawyers and Charter Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation. • Warren D. Wolfson, circuit court judge and appellate justice for 32 years.
