Clarence Thomas to discuss book at Chicago club

U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas will talk about his new book, “My Grandfather's Son,” during an Authors Group luncheon on Monday, Oct. 22, at the Union League Club of Chicago.

The justice will be interviewed for the discussion by Stephen B. Presser, the Raoul Berger Professor of Legal History at the Northwestern University School of Law.

A 1974 graduate of the Yale University Law School, Thomas was admitted to practice in Missouri, where he was an assistant attorney general for three years.

He chaired the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1982 until 1990, when he was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. He joined the Supreme Court in October 1991.
