Pillars of Bar in 7th Circuit to be honored The Sangamon County Bar Association and Illinois Bar Foundation will designate nine 7th Circuit attorneys as Pillars of the Profession during a joint golf outing Monday, Sept. 10. Three of them will be honored posthumously. Heading the list is Robert E. Bradney, an inaugural Laureate of the ISBA Academy of Illinois Lawyers, who is of counsel to the Jacksonville firm of Rammelkamp Bradney. Simon L. Friedman is of counsel to Brown, Hay & Stephens, Springfield, and Robert M. Magill is retired from the firm. Charles J. Northrup is a partner in Sorling, Northrup, Hanna, Cullen & Cochran, Springfield. Walter J. Simhauser is retired from Heckenkamp, Simhauser, Ward & Zerkle. Harlington A. Wood Jr., retired judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals, lives in Petersburg. Posthumous recognition will be made of Springfield attorneys Robert G. Heckenkamp, an ISBA past president and former board member; Norman P. Jones and Robert F. Scott. Bradney is a Charter Fellow of the foundation, and Northrup is a Fellow. Jones was a Charter Fellow, and Heckenkamp was a Fellow. Chaired by James M. Lestikow, a Charter Fellow and Silver Fellow of the Bar Foundation, the committee considered only attorneys of age 80 or more. Vice chairs are former ISBA board member Howard W. Feldman, a Silver Fellow, and Daniel E. Kepner, a Fellow. This is the Bar Foundation's third Pillars event. Previous sites were Champaign County and Peoria County. The golf outing on Sept. 10 will take place at the Illini Country Club in Springfield, beginning with registration at 11 a.m. A Fix-Your-Swing Clinic will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Golfing begins with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. A reception at 5 p.m. includes a silent auction. Pillars awards will be presented during the 6:30 p.m. dinner program. Reservations for golf and dinner are $150 per person, or $50 for dinner only.
