25 legal help groups funded by Foundation Recent grants totaling $105,482 are being distributed by members of the Illinois Bar Foundation board of directors to 25 agencies throughout the state. The largest grant approved by the board is $15,000 for the Coordinated Advice and Referral Program for Legal Services (CARPLS), a Cook County legal aid hotline. A grant of $6,000 was made to the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, and 10 other agencies received grants of $5,000 each. They are: Constitutional Rights Foundation, Uptown People's Law Center, We the People Media, Long-Term Prisoner Policy Project, Genesis House, and Chicago Legal Aid for Incarcerated Mothers, all of Chicago; Community Extension Project, LaGrange; Mutual Ground, Aurora; Immigration Project, Granite City, and Illinois Channel, Springfield. Grants of $3,000 each were made to The Neighborhood Restorative Justice Institute, Catholic Charities, Family Rescue, and Public Interest Law Initiative, all of Chicago, and Crisis Center of South Suburbia, Tinley Park. Grants of $2,500 each were made to Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois, Belleville; CASA DuPage County, Wheaton; CASA Lake County, Deerfield; CASA Kankakee County, Kankakee, and CASA Lee/Carroll County, Dixon. Other recipients are Life Span, Chicago ($3,750); Phoenix Crisis Center, Granite City ($2,232), and Jane Addams Juvenile Court Foundation, Chicago ($1,000).
