Former chiefs schedule speeches

Two former chief judges of U.S. District Court for the Northern District will address luncheon meetings of the Lawyers Group of the Union League Club of Chicago during the next two months.

Judge Marvin Aspen, who pioneered adoption a decade ago of civility standards for lawyers, judges and litigants, will discuss “Lawyer Civility, Looking Back: Are We Any More Civil Today?” on Monday, Jan. 22.

Judge Charles Kocoras, who stepped down recently as chief judge, will speak on “The Death of Trials in Federal Court,” an overview of fewer trials and fewer lawyers with advocacy skills, on Thursday, Feb. 22.

The meetings, which are open to ULCC members and guests, begin with 11:30 a.m. receptions, followed by 12 noon luncheons and presentations.
