Energy issues update March 2 in Chicago
The 2006 Midwest Energy Conference, conducted by the Midwest chapter of the Energy Bar Association, will take place Thursday, March 2, in the Palmer House Hilton, Chicago. For registration details, access the Web site, www.eba-net.org/event2006MW. The conference is co-sponsored by the ISBA Public Utilities and Transportation Law Section Council. Freddi L. Greenberg, a section council member, will be co-host of a reception that precedes the conference at 5:45 p.m. March 1.
Titled “EPACT and Energy Regulation in the Midwest: What's Happening?” the program will open at 8:30 a.m. March 2 with remarks by chapter president Leslie Recht of Defrees & Fiske, Chicago, and national president Frederic G. Berner Jr. of Sidley, Austin, Brown & Wood.
The keynote address at 8:45 will be given by Commissioner Suedeen G. Kelly of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
A panel on State of the States will follow at 9:30 a.m., with Commissioner Kevin K. Wright of the Illinois Commerce Commission as moderator.
Panelists are Steven Gaw of the Missouri Public Service Commission, David Lott Hardy of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, Kenneth Mickolai of the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and Sandra L. Hochstetter of the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
A subsequent panel at 11 a.m. will discuss Midwest ISO and PJM Joint and Common Market: How Is It Going?
The luncheon at 12:15 p.m. will feature an address by Commissioner Diane Munns of the Iowa Utilities Board, president of the National Association of Regulatory Commissioners.
