The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts has scheduled a series of four regional workshops for lawyers in state's attorney and public defender offices, judges, probation officers, and other criminal and juvenile justice practitioners.
Titled “Evidence-Based Practices: What Works in Reducing Offender Reci-divism,” the day-long, multidisciplinary workshops will be conducted by Edward J. Latessa and Mark Carey.
Latessa, a past president of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, is a University of Cincinnati professor and head of its Division of Criminal Justice. Carey, a criminal justice consultant, is former deputy commissioner of the Min-nesota Department of Corrections.
They will present specific techniques to target high-risk offenders, ensure accountability, pair offenders with appropriate services, and develop highly effective interventions for difficult populations.

The free programs begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Luncheon is provided.
