The award is presented jointly by the ISBA Human Rights Section and the Blind Services Association in conjunction with members of the Gertz family.
Letters of nomination should include the name, address and biographical data about the nominee, along with a description of the contributions he or she has made to the advancement of individual rights and responsibilities, civil liberties, civil rights and human rights.
The letter should address ways in which the nominee has demonstrated long-term commitment to these issues, which exemplify the life of Elmer Gertz, and contain a brief statement of why he or she should receive the award.
The name, address and telephone number of the individual or organization making the nomination must be included.
