Russians seek internships

Through the YMCA program, “Summer Work and Travel,” Russian students who speak English and have good skills are seeking internships with Chicago law firms to learn about the legal system.

Edward Shornik, a New York YMCA recruiter who has brought students to Chicago in the past, has contacted ISBA past president Robert K. Downs for help in securing simple office operation positions such as filing and computer work.

The eligible students receive four-month visas to work in the United States and exchange an intercultural flavor with their employers, Shornik said. They should be paid at least $10 per hour to cover basic expenses.
