Several hundred ISBA members have volunteered to provide pro bono or low-fee representation for military personnel and their families in legal matters related to active duty.

When members of the guard and reserve contact the ISBA for assistance, they are paired with lawyers whose practice areas and geographic locations are appropriate. Oversight is provided by the Committee on Military Affairs.
