Humorist at law to be keynoter for fall plenary Sean Carter, who has earned nationwide acclamation as a “humorist at law,” will be the opening plenary keynoter for the third annual ISBA Solo and Small Firm Conference in September. A 1992 graduate of Harvard Law School who has practiced in Boston and Los Angeles, Carter writes a weekly humor column, “Lawpsided,” for the ABA e-Report, newspapers in 30 states and countless Web sites. He'll draw on his background as a standup comedian when he makes the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles the venue for one of his 100 annual motivational and entertaining public appearances at corporate meetings, law firm retreats and CLE programs. The Solo and Small Firm Conference will take place there from Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 6-8, and Carter will provide his witty “spark of lawghter” on Friday morning. In addition to practicing law, giving speeches and training professionals, he is the author of “If It Does Not Fit, Must You Acquit? Your Humorous Guide to the Law.”
