O'Brien, Wojcik vie for 3rd vice president

ISBA election ballots that members receive early next month will reflect a statewide third vice president contest between two candidates.

They are John G. O'Brien of Arlington Heights, a member of the ISBA Board of Governors, and Prof. Mark E. Wojcik of The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, past chair of the International and Immigration Law Section Council.

Election ballots must be returned by Wednesday, May 10. The winning candidate will become ISBA president in 2009.

Cook County members will have a choice of four candidates for the seat on the Board of Governors currently held by retiring governor Stephen I. Lane of Chicago.

They are Patrice Ball-Reed, Paula H. Holderman and Letitia Spunar-Sheats of Chicago, and Mauro Glorioso of Westchester.

Another contested board election will take place in Area I (18th Circuit, DuPage County), where incumbent governor Richard D. Felice of Wheaton is being challenged by Steven B. Levy of Naperville.

Election candidates for five other board seats are uncontested. They include current board members Kim E. Presbrey of Aurora, incumbent in Area III (12th, 13th, 16th, 21st Circuits), and Dennis J. Orsey of Granite City, incumbent in Area VIII (3rd, 20th Circuits).

Others are Anita M. DeCarlo of Chicago, Cook County Under Age 37; Elizabeth L. Jensen of Peoria, in Area IV (10th, 14th, 15th Circuits), and Carl L. Draper of Springfield, in Area VI (7th, 8th, 9th Circuits).

The board seats they seek are currently held by retiring governors, respectively, Wil------liam J. Quinlan of Chicago, Richard W. Zuckerman of Peoria, and Howard W. Feldman of Spring---field.

There are 28 candidates for 23 Cook County seats on the ISBA Assembly. Their names are listed in the election section that starts on page 5, along with biographical information about third vice president and board candidates.

Running for third v.p.

In addition to his service on the ISBA Board of Governors for the past four years and on the Assembly since 1997, John O'Brien is the current ISBA treasurer. He also serves on the boards of the Illinois Bar Foundation and Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund.

Founder and chair of the Illinois Real Estate Attorneys Association, O'Brien is a member of the ISBA Task Force on the Unauthorized Practice of Law and the Special Committee on Strategic Planning.

Mark Wojcik, in addition to having chaired the International and Immigration Law Section Council, serves on the Human Rights Section Council, the Committee on Legal Education, Admission and Competence, and the Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.

A member of the ABA Section of International Law, Wojcik is co-chair of its International Criminal Law Committee, vice chair of the International Health Law Committee, and editor of The International Law News.

O'Brien is a graduate of the Loyola University School of Law; Wojcik graduated from The John Marshall Law School.
