Shysters may bid farewell at Legal Aid '06 Say it isn't so! The Shysters, a musical aggregation of Peoria legal professionals, may make their last public appearance during Legal Aid 2006. The benefit for the Peoria office of Prairie State Legal Services will be held Friday, April 28, in the Par-a-Dice Hotel ballroom, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. A classic rock and soul band, The Shysters were co-founders of the Legal Aid benefit in 1996 and have performed annually since then. Almost $55,000 has been raised in this effort for legal assistance during the past decade. Band members include Gregory Bell of Hasselberg, Rock, Bell & Kuppler; Keith Braskich of Davis & Campbell, and Michael Lied of Howard & Howard, newsletter editor of the ISBA Labor and Employment Law Section Council and member of the Bar Publications Board. Others are Deborah Wallace, a paralegal at State Farm Insurance; Guy Fountain, and Jason Lied. During the 2005 Law Day celebration of the Peoria County Bar Association, The Shysters received Prairie State's Equal Justice Award in special recognition of the 10th anniversary of Legal Aid. Tickets are only $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The price includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, door prizes and three hours of musical entertainment for a crowd estimated at 400 or more. For advance reservations, call Sandra Crow at (309) 674-9831. |
