Curriculum NIU plans public interest law benefit, Riley lecture The Public Interest Law Society at the Northern Illinois University College of Law will hold its 11th annual benefit silent and live auctions on Friday, April 7, in the Thurgood Marshall Gallery of Swen Parson Hall in DeKalb. Bidding for the silent auction will begin at 5 p.m., with the live auction at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be available. To donate an auction item, e-mail niupilsauction@gmail.com. It will take place in the Francis Riley Courtroom. Chicago-Kent lectures Indiana University Law Prof. Kenneth G. Dau-Schmidt, associate dean for research, will deliver the 28th annual Kenneth M. Piper Lecture from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, for the Chicago-Kent College of Law Institute for Law and the Workplace. The lecture, “The Future of Collective Bargaining,” will be followed with commentary by labor attorneys Allison Beck, Nicholas W. Clark and Michael A. Rodriguez. • • • At 12 noon Tuesday, April 4, Chicago-Kent's 17th annual Henry Morris Lecture in International and Comparative Law will be given by Mitsuo Matsushita, emeritus law professor at the University of Tokyo. A founding member of the appellate body of the World Trade Organization and an advisory board member of the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization, he will speak on “Decision-Making in the WTO.” There is no charge to attend these lectures.
