ISBA members in Cook County have been requested to register their opinions of circuit court judges and 1st District Appellate Court justices who are candidates for retention on the November ballot.

Survey forms were mailed early this month, asking lawyers to evaluate the sitting jurists on several qualities that are considered important for service on the bench. The deadline for responses is Thursday, April 6.

ISBA members whose offices are outside of Cook County, but who have knowledge of any Cook County retention candidates, may participate by contacting Brenda Todt at the Illinois Bar Center, (800) 252-8908 or btodt@isba.org, to request a survey form.

Results of the survey will not be made public, but will be provided to the ISBA Committee on Judicial Evaluations as a supplement to investigations and interviews of about 70 jurists who will be screened during the summer and fall.
