Women's Month tours planned

The Women's Bar Association of Illinois and Cook County Circuit Court will commemorate Women's History Month with tours of the Richard J. Daley Center on Friday, March 30. The program includes courtroom visits, a panel with female judges, and a meeting with WBAI representatives.

Tours of up to 35 people will begin at 10 a.m. in the west lobby. Individuals and groups should register by March 27 with Milissa Pacelli at (312) 603-1927.

The Women's Bar Association presented Mary Heftel Hooton Awards to three judges during its annual judicial reception on March 7. They are Miriam E. Harrison, Marjorie Laws and Shelly Sutker-Dermer.

 

Advocates Society

The first monthly meeting of the Advocates Society conducted by new President Herbert J. Sillins will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the Copernicus Foundation, Chicago. A Polish deli dinner will follow.

 

Appellate Lawyers

The Appellate Lawyers Association will hear the program, “Certiorari Practice in the U.S. Supreme Court: A Behind-the Scenes View,” during a luncheon meeting Tuesday, March 27, at the Chicago Athletic Association.

Champaign County Bar

The annual Law Day dinner of the Champaign County Bar Association will be held Tuesday, May 1, at the Champaign Country Club, opening with a 5:30 p.m. reception. Bloomington attorney Guy C. Fraker, a Lincoln historian, is keynote speaker.

Cook County Bar

Administrative counsel Mary F. Andreoni of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission will lecture on ethics and professionalism to the Cook County Bar Association on Thursday, April 19.

Andreoni's presentation will begin at 12 noon in the 20th floor conference room at 1 E. Wacker Drive, Chicago. A member of the ISBA Committee on Professional Conduct, she is director of the Illinois Professional Responsibility Institute.

 

Diversity Professionals
