Nuts, bolts of traffic courts fastened for Young Lawyers The ISBA Young Lawyers Division and Traffic Laws and Courts Section will present a joint Law Ed seminar from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the UBS Tower Conference Center, Chicago. (MCLE accredited 3.0 hours) Titled “Nuts and Bolts for the Young Law-yer: Basic Traffic Law and Other Issues,” the seminar is coordinated by ISBA Assembly member Debra A. Liss, secretary of the Traffic Laws and Courts Section Council and member of the YLD Council. The schedule follows. 2 p.m. – Basic Traffic and DUI Law for the New Lawyer: Nuts and Bolts for the Non-Traffic Law Attorney, with Ava George Stewart of Chicago and Darius Dirmantas of Woodridge. 3 p.m. – Starting Your Own Practice: The Pitfalls, Benefits and Other Things to Know About, with YLD Council vice chair Gregg A. Garofolo and secretary Gina Arquilla of Arquilla & Fink, both of Chicago, and council member Heather M. Fritsch of Sycamore. Garofalo also serves on the Trusts and Estates Section Council; Arquilla on the Assembly and General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section Council; Fritsch on the Committee on Women and the Law. 3:30 p.m. – Preventing Legal Malpractice, with George R. Ripplinger or Ripplinger & Zimmer, Belleville, a member of the Committee on Legal Education, Admission and Competence. 4:30 p.m. – Providing Pro Bono Services: How to Get Involved, with Chicago attorneys Justin L. Heather of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, YLD newsletter co-editor, and Assembly member Michael Bergmann, director of the Pro Bono Initiative, secretary of the Child Law Section Council and member of the Committee on Delivery of Legal Services. The ISBA also will apply for 2.0 hours of Professional MCLE for this seminar. |
