130th Annual Meeting highlights focus on education, installation

The 130th ISBA Annual Meeting will begin early and end early. Events are scheduled from Thursday morning, June 15, until 12 noon Saturday, June 17, at The Abbey on Lake Geneva. See pages 18-19.

At 8:30 a.m. June 15, the ISBA Mutual Insurance Co. board will meet, followed at 10 a.m. by the Committee on Military Affairs, at 12 noon by the Illinois Bar Foundation board, and at 3:30 p.m. by several other committees and section councils.

The opening reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. that evening will be sponsored by ISBA Mutual.

Friday, June 16, will open at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast symposium, “Managing Receivables for Better Law Firm Profitability,” sponsored by the Committee on Law Office Management and Economics. Business meetings will follow throughout the day.

Four interrelated Law Ed seminars will be presented Friday, with an opening session at 9:30 a.m. conducted by Jay Foonberg on law practice profitability (see page 5 for details). There will be lunch on the lawn from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Exhibits and information booths for products and services of ISBA-affiliated vendors will be available Thursday and Friday, along with an Internet Cafe. A day camp for children is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

The annual reception, dinner and installation of Irene F. Bahr of Wheaton as president will begin at 6:45 p.m. Friday, with entertainment by “American English.” A pool party and children's activities will take place from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, June 17, an 8 a.m. networking breakfast will be followed by a few more business meetings. Awards will be presented during the semi-annual session of the ISBA Assembly, which will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude with an informal luncheon and adjournment.
