ISBA gets set for 131st Annual Meeting

The 131st ISBA Annual Meeting will provide a potpourri of educational programs, business meetings, networking receptions, exhibitors, award presentations, and the installation of a new president.

The yearly convention that kicks off a new year of bar initiatives is scheduled Thursday, June 21, through Saturday, June 23, at The Abbey Resort and Spa in Fontana, Wis. See pages 18 and 19 for complete details.

Three Law Ed seminars will take place: Civil Practice Update and Family Law Update on Friday, and “Uninsured/Underinsured: The Necessary Basics,” a presentation of the Insurance Law and Tort Law Sections and Young Lawyers Division.

An additional learning opportunity is the Friday breakfast symposium, “Marketing on a Shoestring: How to Make More Money by Bringing in Paying Clients,” conducted by the Committee on Law Office Management and Economics.

The Annual Meeting opens Thursday with section council and committee business meetings to plan agendas for the year, and the opening reception sponsored by the ISBA Mutual Insurance Co.

Friday noon, several members will be honored for professional achievement during the annual awards luncheon. On Friday night, Joseph G. Bisceglia of Chicago will succeed Irene F. Bahr of Wheaton as ISBA president.

The annual reception and banquet will include remarks by both bar leaders, and entertainment by the Ken Arlen Orchestra.

On Saturday morning, the Committee on Women and the Law and Committee on Minority and Women Participation invite ISBA members to their 12th annual networking breakfast. A continental breakfast for spouses and children also will be available.

The ISBA Assembly, the state bar's 210-member policy-making body, will hold its semi-annual meeting on Saturday, wrapping up the three-day convention.
