Kane County Bar plans 150th

Members of the Kane County Bar Association – especially those of the retired persuasion – are being asked to search old files for photographs and memorabilia that are significant to the history of the organization.

The KCBA plans to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2008, and a commemorative book will be an essential element of the sesquicentennial, said executive director Jan Wade.

Also in the offing are a gridiron show, a couple of lunches and dinners with high-profile speakers, a mock trial reenactment, monthly Ask-a-Lawyer Days, a composite photograph, banner displays and of course, a time capsule.

Regular events, such as the annual judicial reception, holiday party and Bar Foundation gala, will be enhanced in sesquicentennial content.

The monthly publication, Bar Briefs, will contain reminiscences by venerable Kane County attorneys and 16th Circuit judges, past and present.

Partnerships are anticipated with local historical organizations, the judiciary, municipalities, libraries, and educational and civic organizations.

The planning committee is chaired by Aurora attorney Patrick M. Flaherty of Kinnally, Flaherty, Krentz & Loran, who is KCBA first vice president. ISBA Assembly members Dion U. Davi and Lisa M. Nyuli serve on the committee.

In addition to memorabilia and written works, the bar association welcomes financial contributions to help underwrite many of the projects.
