Sunday Runners season begins

Warmer weather early this month inspired the unofficial ISBA Sunday Runners to resume their Saturday morning outings on Chicago's lakefront. Retired Supreme Court justice Moses Harrison and Sharon Harrison were on hand May 5 to help kick off the 2007 season.

The runners, joggers and walkers, in Sunday Runners T-shirts, meet at 8 a.m. Saturdays near the Lincoln Park totem pole just east of Lake Shore Drive at Addison. Free parking is available south of the Recreation Drive exit, past the unmanned booth.

Led for several years by ISBA past presidents Leonard Amari and Robert Downs, the weekly jaunts attract other bar leaders of varying athletic ability. A collegial brunch usually follows the outings. Family members, friends and dogs are welcome.

The Sunday Runners have only one rule: There is no obligation to show up; if you come, you come. Attendance is strongly urged, however, when they enter a team in the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation's benefit Race Judicata in August.
