Arthur B. Muir has been appointed a partner in the Chicago office of McGuireWoods and member of the firm's Capital Markets Department.

Formerly with Neal, Gerber & Eisen-berg, Muir has more than 25 years of experience in real estate lending, development and commercial finance, and has handled transactions of up to $1 billion for major clients.

R. Hugh Magill has been appointed to the new position of national director of trust services and chief fiduciary officer for the 84 offices of Northern Trust Personal Finance Services.

An attorney with the bank since 1989 after a private practice in estate planning, Magill was named executive vice president in 2006. A member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council, he serves on the boards of Creator Arts Center and the Block Museum of Art.

Paul A. Greenberg and Mary Vidal Hays have been named members of Aronberg, Goldgehn, Davis & Garmisa, Chicago. Greenberg practices appellate advocacy, business litigation and dispute resolution. Hays is in business transactions, estate planning, probate, tax, trademark and copyright law.

New associates at Aronberg Goldgehn include Sean M. Anderson in commercial litigation, dispute resolution and appellate advocacy, and John F. Costello Jr. in commercial litigation, labor and employment law.

Also Frank J. Ferraro in commercial and industrial real estate transactions, finance and leasing, and Michele A. Rosenfeld in divorce and family law issues.

Katherine Smith Dedrick has joined the Chicago office of Childress Duffy Goldblatt as a partner in risk management, insurance recovery and disaster preparedness for corporate and sophisticated policyholders.

Previously with Levenfeld Pearlstein and Hinshaw & Culbertson, Dedrick is a founder of Women for Achievement and a recipient of a Women with Vision Award from the Women's Bar Association of Illinois.

The Edwardsville-based firm of HeplerBroom opened a Chicago office on April 1 by adding the partners, associates and staff of Price Tunney Reiter. The new office is at 150 N. Wacker Dr.

The partners who joined HeplerBroom are Paul L. Price, Anthony J. Tunney, Catherine Coyne Reiter, Steven J. Martin and Dina L. Torrisi. Price and Tunney are past presidents of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, as is Gordon R. Broom of the Edwardsville office.

Matthew M. Neumeier has joined the management group in the Chicago office of Howrey LLP, where he is a member of the Global Litigation Practice Group and head of the Products Liability and Mass Tort Class Action Practice.

Scott T. Schutte also has joined Howrey in class action defense, insurance coverage and complex business litigation. He and Neumeier were with Jenner & Block.
