Mark Hassakis to head state bar in 2010 Mark D. Hassakis of Mt. Vernon has been elected third vice president of the Illinois State Bar Association and is in line to become its president in June 2010. A tally of election ballots on May 10 showed Hassakis receiving 69 percent of the vote and defeating Howard W. Feldman of Springfield by a margin of 4,471 to 1,975. A 1976 graduate of the St. Louis University School of Law, Hassakis is a partner in Hassakis & Hassakis and a past president of the Jefferson County Bar Association. A member of the Board of Governors since 2002, he served on the Assembly from 1978 to 1984 and 1988 to 1994, and was president of the Illinois Bar Foundation from 2000 to 2002. Four Chicago attorneys were elected to Cook County seats on the Board of Governors. They are Russell W. Hartigan with 1,548 votes, John G. Locallo with 1,440, Paula Hudson Holderman with 1,150, and Mark E. Wojcik with 1,096. Losing candidates are Kevin E. O'Reilly (1,072), Thomas M. Battista (1,038), Andrea M. Scheifer (999), and Patrice Ball-Reed (975). Bernard Wysocki of Waukegan was elected to the board seat in Area II (17th, 19th and 22nd Circuits). He received 217 votes, to 180 for Frank A. Perrecone of Rockford, and 116 for Christopher S. Haaff of Crystal Lake. Judge Stephen R. Pacey of Paxton was elected to the board seat in Area V (5th, 6th and 11th Circuits). He received 252 votes, to 170 for Jeffrey D. Richardson of Decatur, and 115 for William A. Peithmann of Farmer City. Dion U. Davi of Wheaton was unopposed for an under-age-37 board seat from outside Cook County. |
