Young Lawyers benefit Dec. 2 for kids' fund

ISBA members may enjoy an evening of camaraderie next month while contributing to a charitable initiative that supports and furnishes supervised courthouse waiting rooms around the state for children of witnesses and litigants.

The eighth annual Young Lawyers Di-vision holiday party for that purpose is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Joe's of Chicago, 940 W. Weed St. In addition to finger food and liquid refreshments, live 1980s retro music will be provided by Underwater People.

In seven prior years, the YLD has raised more than $100,000 in cooperation with the Illinois Bar Foundation for children's courthouse waiting rooms. Since 2001, proceeds have reached $65,000 from the holiday party, plus $13,000 from a golf outing last summer.

The suggested donation for admission to the event is $35 per person, but additional tax-deductible donations are welcome. Checks should be payable to IBF/Children's Assistance Fund.
