Pipeline into profession is urged to increase diversity “Diversity Roundtable: Pipeline to the Profession,” an ISBA Midyear Meeting discussion from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel is a project of President Irene F. Bahr and the Committee on Minority and Women Participation. The roundtable topic is methods of increasing diversity in the legal profession by improving the educational pipeline for minority law students. A recent American Bar Association report found that this well-established pathway into the legal profession may be “riddled with leaks,” resulting in a loss of “significant numbers of potential law students and future legal scholars and practitioners of color at every point along the pipeline continuum.” Roundtable participants, by invitation only, will explore a wide variety of pipeline proposals and ways that the ISBA can help implement related initiatives throughout the state. For information about getting involved in this project, call Janet Sosin, director of bar services, at (312) 726-8775. |
