Three environmental seminar sessions are scheduled Dec. 8

A unique ISBA Law Ed seminar on environmental law practice and research will be conducted Friday, Dec. 8, in three separate two-hour sessions: 9 to 11 a.m., 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., and 3 to 5 p.m.

A joint presentation of the ISBA En--vironmental Law Section and Region V of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, it is titled “Green-Surfing: A Practical Guide to the Internet for Environmental Practitioners.”

The seminar sessions will take place on the 12th floor of the Metcalf Federal Building, 77 W. Jackson, Chicago. The registration fee is $35. (MCLE accredited hours: 2.0)

The hands-on sessions will be conducted by Illinois EPA deputy counsel Bruce Carlson of Springfield. Region V acting counsel Bertram C. Frey, secretary of the section council, is program coordinator and moderator.

Each participant at the seminar will have online access to a computer terminal. Only 20 individuals per session can be accommodated for the two-part presentation.

The program will begin with a practical guide to the Internet that includes background on the World Wide Web, a preview of future developments, tips on getting connected and suggestions for conducting research.

The second part of the program is devoted to an interactive exploration of environmental resources on the Web, including academic and university, state and federal government, associations and citizens' organizations.
