Retired Cook County judge Dean M. Trafelet has been named managing trustee of the $5.3 billion Owens Corning Fiberboard Asbestos Settlement Trust and sole trustee of the ABB Lummus Global Asbestos PI Settlement Trust.

Trafelet also is court-appointed legal representative for all future asbestos claimants in the Armstrong World Industries, USG Corp., Plibrico Co. and Brauer Corp. product liability-related reorganizations.

Margaret A. “Peggy” Reetz has joined Kerns, Pitrof, Frost & Pearlman in Chicago as a partner in professional liability and reinsurance groups, concentrating in technology, media and e-commerce matters. She was with Cozen Connor.

Alicia Wartowski has joined the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation as director of its guardian ad litem program. She was family law attorney at the Cabrini Green Legal Clinic.

Anne Geraghty has been named pro bono manager in the Chicago office of DLA Piper. The new position includes assisting national pro bono programs and overseeing the Juvenile Justice Project in Cook County.

Previously a litigation associate with Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale & Dorr and research assistant at the Georgetown University Law Center, she is former grants manager for the American Bar Association Juvenile Justice Center.

Maribel Mata Benedict has joined the Chicago office of Katten Muchin Rosenman as a partner in the Public Finance Practice. Previously a sole practitioner, Benedict counseled Hispanic clients, Chicago taxing bodies and financial institutions in matters of municipal finance, civil litigation, real estate and estate law.

ISBA Assembly member Dion U. Davi has joined Mirabella, Kinkaid, Frederick & Mirabelli, Wheaton, as an associate. Previously an assistant DuPage County state's attorney, he serves on the ISBA Committee on Government Lawyers and the Young Lawyers Division Council.

Roger H. Stein, Peter M. Klobuchar and Richard C. Himelhoch have joined Schwartz Cooper in Chicago as principals in the Intellectual Property and Information Technology Transfers Practice. All three were with Wallenstein & Wagner.

Stein and Klobuchar concentrate in domestic and foreign patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and unfair competition. Himelhoch counsels clients on intellectual property procurement, strategy, maintenance and enforcement.
