Chief is re-elected Chief Judge Stephen C. Mathers of the 9th Circuit has been re-elected to a two-year term. President of the Illinois Judges Association in 2001, he is a former member of the ISBA Committee on Legal Technology.
Judicial seats filled Associate Judge John J. Kinsella of Wheaton, a former DuPage County state's attorney, was appointed to the 18th Circuit Court on Oct. 15 to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Judge Kenneth Moy. Chicago attorney Richard M. Stock, a resident of Clarendon Hills, also was named to the 18th Circuit Court, replacing retired judge Edward R. Duncan Jr. A former assistant state's attorney, he has practiced with Drinker, Biddle, Gardner, Carton since 2002.
Associates appointed Katherine Gorman Hubler of Prusak, Winne & Gorman, Peoria, is now an associate judge of the 10th Circuit. She succeeded Brian M. Nemenoff, who retired (see separate item). New associate judges in the 19th Circuit are Luis A. Berrones of Drinker Biddle Gardner Carton, Chicago, and Veronica M. O'Malley, an assistant Lake County state's attorney.
Retirements announced Cook County Associate Judge Gloria G. Coco, a member of the ISBA Assembly, plans to leave the bench this month. Colleagues will honor her at a retirement party Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Empire Room of the Palmer House Hilton. Cook County Judge James F. Henry retired last month after 19 years on the bench. He Has joined Resolute Systems, a mediation and arbitration firm. Judge Edward Ferguson of the 3rd Circuit will retire in November 2008 after 34 years on the bench. He became an associate judge in 1974 and a circuit judge in 1988, and he served five years as chief judge. Associate Judge Brian M. Nemenoff of the 10th Circuit retired Oct. 31 after 21 years. The former Peoria deputy corporate counsel looks forward to getting married later this month and traveling. |
