Next spring, ISBA members in good standing will elect a third vice president from Cook County, and six members of the Board of Governors and 26 Cook County Assembly members for three-year terms.

Candidates may file for the board seats of three Cook County members – Michele M. Jochner, James J. Morici Jr. and Naomi H. Schuster. Only Jochner is not eligible for re-election.

In Area VII (1st, 2nd and 4th Circuits), board member Shari R. Rhode of Carbondale stands for election. She was appointed to the vacancy caused by the election of Mark D. Hassakis as third vice president.

The Under Age 37 seats of Celia G. Gamrath of Chicago (Cook County) and Keith E. Fruehling of Urbana (Outside Cook County) need to be filled. Neither is eligible for re-elections.

Of the 26 Assembly members from Cook County whose seats are up for election, eight have served the maximum number of years and may not run.

One law student Assembly member may be elected to a one-year term from each of the 13 affiliated law schools. Candidates must have completed at least one semester prior to the election, and may not serve more than two terms.

Nominating petitions may be filed only between Tuesday, Jan. 15, and Friday, Feb. 15, at either the Illinois Bar Center in Springfield or the Chicago Regional Office.

Petitions must be submitted physically with original signatures. They may not be submitted by e-mail or facsimile.

In order to seek office or to vote in the election, a member's dues must be current on March 1 for the period ending June 30.
