ISBA award deadlines set Nomination deadlines have been announced for three awards that will be presented during a Friday, June 27, luncheon at the ISBA Annual Meeting in St. Louis. For nominating forms and complete information about the following, contact Janet Sosin, director of bar services, at mailto:jsosin@isba.orgor (312) 726-8775The deadline for the Community Leadership Award, given by the Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, will be Monday, March 31. Nominees should be individuals who by example have worked to eliminate discrimination and foster understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and legal issues that concern them. Deadlines for both the Young Lawyer of the Year Awards and the Law Student Division Public Service Award are Friday, April 18. Two ISBA members under the age of 36 – one from Cook County and one from outside Cook County – are eligible for Young Lawyer of the Year Awards. Attributes include outstanding litigation or advocacy, counseling and pro bono work, advancement of the profession, published articles, bar association and public service activities. One ISBA Law Student Division member from each of the 13 affiliated law schools may be nominated, and one of them will be selected as the Public Service Award recipient. The honor is based on extracurricular achievements, service-related activities that enhance professional responsibility, and public interest law contributions. The honoree will be reimbursed for expenses of attending the Annual Meeting, and a $250 donation will be made in his or her name to a designated not-for-profit organization. Each finalist will receive a plaque. |
