Rights of public, official concerns require balancing An ISBA Law Ed Series seminar on the balance between the public's right to know and the privacy concerns of government bodies will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the Michael J. Howlett Building auditorium, Springfield. Program coordinator is Rosalyn B. Kaplan of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, Chicago, secretary of the sponsoring Committee on Government Law. The Administrative Law Section is co-sponsor. Titled “Public Information and Privacy Rights Issues for the Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act,” the seminar will begin with introductions and continue with the following topics. 2:10 p.m. – Recent Developments of Interest Regarding the Open Meetings Act, with Michael J. Luke of the Office of Illinois Attorney General, Springfield. 2:50 p.m. – Exceptions and Exemptions Under the Open Meetings Act, with Roger Huebner of the Illinois Municipal League. Springfield. 3:40 p.m. – Recent Developments of Interest Regarding the Freedom of Information Act, with Terry L. Mutchler of the Office of Illinois Attorney General, Springfield. 4:20 p.m. – Exceptions and Exemptions Under the Freedom of Information Act, with Patricia A. Crowley of the City of Champaign Legal Department. Legal service agency attorneys may attend this seminar at no charge. The fee for newly admitted attorneys is $10. For all others the fee is $25. |
