Anne Burke, Lisa Madigan to speak during ISBA/IJA joint events in December Two of the state's top women legal professionals will be featured speakers during the ISBA Midyear Meeting and Illinois Judges Association Convention in December at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel. Justice Anne M. Burke will speak on behalf of her colleagues at the Illinois Supreme Court dinner on Friday, Dec. 7. Attorney General Lisa Madigan is the keynote speaker for the IJA luncheon at noon the same day. The meeting will begin Thursday, Dec. 6, with two Law Ed seminars, “Legal Implications of Effective Representation for Unmarried Couples” and a Mentor Training program. The opening reception will follow at 4:30 p.m. At 8 a.m. Friday, the Fellows of the Illinois Bar Foundation will be host for a breakfast at which Belleville attorney George R. Ripplinger Jr. will receive the award for Distinguished Service to Law and Society, and Thomas P. Sullivan of Jenner & Block will be inducted as an Honorary Fellow. At 9:30 a.m., a joint ISBA/IJA program, “Colleagues in Crisis,” co-sponsored by the Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, will precede the luncheon. Law Ed seminars on Friday are a Family Law Update and “Update on Legal Developments for the General Practitioner. At 4:30 p.m., reunions will be held for law alumni of DePaul University, University of Illinois, John Marshall, St. Louis University, Northern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University. ISBA President Joseph G. Bisceglia and Chicago Bar Association President Victor P. Henderson will preside at the Supreme Court dinner, which begins with a 6 p.m. reception. The semi-annual business session of the ISBA Assembly will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The deadline for room reservations at the Sheraton is Nov. 12.
