Tips given for seeking offices

An ISBA luncheon program designed to encourage minority and women lawyers to run for the Board of Governors and Assembly will take place Friday, Nov. 2, in Jenner & Block's 40th floor conference room at the IBM Building.

Titled “Changing the Face of the ISBA: Tips on Running for Offices,” the free presentation from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. is sponsored by the Committee on Minority and Women Participation and the Task Force on Diversity.

Scheduled speakers are ISBA past president Cheryl I. Niro, Michele M. Jochner of the Board of Governors, and Assembly member Sonni Choi Williams, secretary of the committee and chair of the program.

Nominating petitions for four Cook County board seats, two board seats outside Cook County, and 26 Cook County Assembly positions may be submitted between Jan. 15 and Feb. 15, 2008. Speakers will explain the process of obtaining petitions and gathering signatures.

Individuals who plan to attend this program must register in advance in order to be admitted to the conference offices. Send an e-mail to plester@isba.org as soon as possible.
