Urgent notice: Report requests for ISBA dues via credit card The ISBA has been notified that someone is making phone calls to members claiming to represent the state bar association and seeking to collect dues via credit card payment. Although the ISBA periodically uses telemarketing services, we are not currently engaged in telemarketing. If you are contacted by someone asking for your credit card number for payment of your ISBA dues, do not give out that information. If you believe you have been contacted by this fraudulent caller (regardless of whether you provided any credit card or personal information), please let us know by contacting Ann Boucher in the ISBA Membership Department, (800) 252-8908. If you have already been contacted and have given out your credit card information, please call the Illinois Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Hotline at (800) 243-0618. Some suggested steps you may wish to take if you have given out your information include: Contact your local police department and file a report of the fraudulent transaction. Contact your credit card company to report the fraudulent charge and change your account number. Contact credit reporting agencies to alert them of possible fraud: Equifax, (800) 525-6285 or www.equifax.com; Experian, (888) 397-3742 or www.experian.com; TransUnion, (800) 680-7289 or www.transunion.com.The ISBA is concerned about members' privacy and security.
