Case Number:
No. 14-2937
Decision Date:
August 20, 2015
Federal District:
Petition for Review, Order of Bd. of Immigration Appeals
Holding:
Petition denied
Bd. did not err in affirming IJ’s denial of asylum application filed by alien-native of Cameroon, where IJ could properly find that alien was not credible based on inconsistencies in alien’s testimony regarding how he received visa, as well as evidence suggesting that alien had essentially lifted events contained in his affidavit from events contained in Wikinews article. Ct. further noted that IJ had provided specific reasons based in record to support instant credibility assessment. Fact that IJ’s written decision occurred 14 months after hearing did not entitle alien to new credibility determination.
