Verdicts
Plaintiff filed wrongful death action against City, arising from City's response to 911 call for 15-year-old decedent made by decedent's father. Jury verdict of $5.187 for Plaintiff, who had alleged that in response to first 911 call paramedics failed to evaluate or assess decedent, and that paramedics engaged in willful and wanton conduct in failing to transport decedent, who was nonresponsive. Defendant failed to reach high burden for entry of judgment n.o.v., as evidence does not so overwhelmingly favor Defendant that verdict could never stand. Pecuniary damages award is not shocking to judicial conscience, with no evidence of passion or prejudice by jury. (QUINN and LAVIN, concurring.)
