Many investors were presented with a once-in–a-lifetime opportunity when the limitation on modified adjusted gross income was eliminated, giving every IRA owner the opportunity to cash in on the tax-free distributions provided by Roth IRAs. Just because a Roth conversion can be made, though, does not mean that it should!
The uncertainty of estate taxes along with changes surrounding Roth IRA Conversions presents significant income tax and estate tax issues for our clients. Estate planning takes on additional considerations when qualified plan assets represent a significant portion of the estate. This two-hour program explains the process of conversion, as well as the various circumstances when a conversion is advantageous. Attorneys and other professionals who provide financial planning advice will gain an understanding of the intricacies of the conversion process and how and when it may benefit their clients.
