Planning for elderly clients has special challenges. There are competing demands of providing for clients in their latter years, growing health issues, and a desire to leave something for their children or for their grandchildren’s education. There is also the increasing incidence of late-in-life divorces. How to satisfy these demands in a tax-efficient and administratively easy way requires the use of many tools. This program will provide you with a practical guide to estate and trust planning for elderly clients, including spotting and identifying capacity issues, planning for long-term medical care, issues surrounding personal residences, planning for grandchildren’s education, and drafting plans that will withstand litigation. Part 2 of 2.
Highlights:
- Health care issues, including durable powers of attorney and advance medical directives
- Planning for chronic illnesses
- Use of revocable trusts
- Gifting strategies, including gifts to fund grandchildren education
- Asset protection trusts
