Steven Gaskell, Psy.D. is a Forensic Psychologist in Illinois who provides a variety of forensic and general clinical psychological evaluations. He has extensive experience with a variety of legal issues and can provide services related to: Competency to stand trial; Criminal responsibility (sanity at the time of the offense); Sex offender risk assessments; Civil commitment of sexual offenders; Malingering and deception; Miranda issues; and Disability determination. Dr. Gaskell’s methods are objective, fair and defensible. He begins with a review of available records including medical and mental health treatment records, previous psychiatric and psychological evaluations, complaints, and other legal records. He proceeds with a psychological evaluation relying on objective data, well-validated instruments, generally accepted methods, thorough history obtained from the evaluatee, and a current mental status assessment. Oral and written reports are provided as requested. Dr. Gaskell also offers case preparation services to help defense and plaintiff attorneys working on cases with psychological or psychiatric issues.
