Firefighters protected by Criminal Code amendment. PA 095-0801 December 2008 Illinois Law Update, Page 612 Illinois lawmakers amended the Criminal Code of 1961 by modifying section 31-1. 720 ILCS 5/31-1. 
New licensing requirements for fire equipment distributors June 2008 Illinois Law Update, Page 284 The Office of the State Fire Marshall made changes to 41 Ill Adm Code 280. The changes apply to companies and their employees that service, hydro-test, recharge, install, maintain, replace, repair or inspect all types of fire extinguishers, suppression devices or systems.
Police and firefighters' duties must be kept separate -PA 094-720 March 2006 Illinois Law Update, Page 118 The Illinois Municipal Code was amended by adding section 10-3-3.1, 65 ILCS 5/10-3-3.1, in order to make distinct the duties of police officers and firefighters.
Tampering with fire safety system is a Class 4 felony PA 094-707 February 2006 Illinois Law Update, Page 68 Effective June 1, 2006, the Criminal Code of 1961, 720 ILCS 5/16-22 et seq, is amended by adding section 16-22, which makes "tampering with a security, fire, or life safety system" a Class 4 felony. 
Volunteer firefighters shielded from wrongful termination of employment and offered civil relief for employer violations PA 093-1027 January 2005 Illinois Law Update, Page 14 The Volunteer Firefighter Job Protection Act, which applies to municipalities with populations of 3,500 or less, stipulates when volunteer firefighters may not be discharged from their employment, as well as the appropriateness of civil actions in response to wrongful termination.
