ISBA’s Pilot Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program-2012
In addition to supporting the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism’s mentoring outreach efforts and local mentoring programs, ISBA is matching a limited number of new attorney mentees with select ISBA mentors during its year-long pilot program. These participants will receive six professional responsibility MCLE credits upon successful program completion.
Eligibility Requirements
New Attorneys are eligible for the ISBA Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program if they satisfy the following requirements:
- Admitted to practice in Illinois no more than two years prior to the date of beginning the program
- Registered as “active” on the Illinois ARDC Master Roll of Attorneys
- Practice law in Illinois or intend to practice law in Illinois State Bar Association
- ISBA Member (All new attorneys receive a complimentary ISBA membership during their first year of admission to the IL bar. If you haven't already, activate your membership now!)
Program Overview
- Acceptance into the program
- Matching with an experienced ISBA attorney mentor
- Attend the required orientation meeting on February 16, 2012 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the ISBA office in Chicago or via live webcast. (Viewing at the same location as your mentor is required.)
- Development of a mentoring plan (templates provided)
- Completion of the plan through a minimum of 8 in-person meetings between mentor and mentee within the one-year mentoring term.
- Completion and submission of the Plan Completion Attestation
- Completion of Attorney Application for Mentoring CLE Certificate for receipt of 6 professional responsibility MCLE credits.
Scope of ISBA Program
ISBA’s pilot program will focus on matching new attorneys who live and/or practice in areas of the state unserved by other commission-approved mentoring programs. To see if there is already a program in your geographic area, visit http://ilsccp.org/mentoring/mentoring_index.htm If you are still interested in applying as a new lawyer mentee for ISBA’s pilot program, please complete the ISBA New Lawyer Application form by January 25, 2012. ISBA will notify you no later than February 10th regarding whether we can accommodate your request during the pilot program.

New Lawyers shall be:
(1) admitted to practice in Illinois no more than two years prior to the date of beginning the program;
(2) be registered on the Illinois ARDC Master Roll of Attorneys as active; and
(3) practice law in Illinois or intend to practice law in Illinois.

Applications for ISBA's Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program will be accepted through January 25, 2012. ISBA will do its best to accommodate your request, but cannot guarantee a match. A required orientation meeting will be held on February 16, 2012 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
